WhistlePig 10

1 Posted by - 03/23/2014 - A Rated, American, Rye
I have heard a lot of fantastic things about WhistlePig over the years. Wine Enthusiast gave it a 96-point rating – unheard of until that point. Details magazine dubbed it “America’s Best New Whiskey,” while the Wall Street Journal named it in “Top five whiskies of the year”. There are no shortage of other accolades, but it was finally time to put it all to a very simple test.

  • Style: Rye Whiskey
  • Alcohol: 50%
  • Volume: 70cl

WhistlePig 10

  • Nose: Clove, nutmeg, burnt oak – spicy in general
  • Palate: Vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, subtle oak again
For 100 proof it’s very smooth and didn’t need any water
  • Finish: Very short, but a nice spice note for a few seconds
  • Marks: The marks system for the Society is left simple: A – F with +/- leveling.

Jon: A+
Justin: A
Sara: A+
Shannon: A
Trent: A
Median Grade: A

I want to unite old friends and share this amazing experience. Whether it be indulging on a few drams of single malt scotch or a unique bourbon I will always find it hard to resist not to diversify and expand our whisk(e)y horizons.
