The 2nd official Society meeting was held last night  (6/5/13) and Shannon presented us with Colonel EH Taylor Straight Rye. The Colonel definitely wowed us and the bottle almost didn’t make it out alive. She also paired beautifully with the Nicaraguan Tatuaje 7th Reserva Cigars for those that partook ;)

Straight Rye Whiskey has experienced a strong resurgence in the American whiskey landscape, yet Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was making this style more than 100 years ago. This small batch, Bottled-in-Bond 100 proof straight rye whiskey pays tribute to the former Distillery owner with a unique rye whiskey reminiscent of days long past. -

Bottled in bond refers to a set of legal regulations contained in the US government’s Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits, as originally laid out in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. A reaction to adulteration among spirits, the act made the government the guarantor of a whiskey’s authenticity. Read more here.
